Local Partnerships

Neighbor by Neighbor - This local initiative serves the holistic needs of the poor and marginalized in our community by connecting families and residents of Harbor Country with social services.  Service agencies and resources in Berrien County tend to be located in the more populated twin-cities area of the county. NbyN helps Harbor Country residents specifically in finding services and resources that they may not be aware of. HCC oversees this program through a team of people that provides support for the Resource & Referral Specialist, providing assistance with oversight and management of the money given through the grant, working to raise awareness and additional financial support, and connecting volunteers as needed to assist in the work of the program. Lunch Buddies - An initiative created in partnership with Harbert Church and local school counselors! Lunch Buddies is a powerful way to invest in children and students in our community. Research has shown that kids and youth who can identify 5 or more positive adult role models who show an interest in their life benefit greatly.  In school there are improvements seen in attendance, academic performance, and self-esteem. Benefits also include healthier attitudes and behaviors, positive memories and experiences, and deeper spiritual formation. It is simple, yet powerful, to be one of these positive, caring adult role models in their life. All it takes is being consistent and caring. Students more than ever, deeply need to be seen and know. A background check required.

Reading Buddies - Similar to Lunch Buddies, this is another very simple, yet powerful way to invest in local children and help them to know they are seen, known, and loved. All it takes is a small amount of free time and a commitment to listen to or read with a young child! This is a great opportunity to bless a child; your presence is the greatest gift, because every child wants, possibility more than anything else in life, to be seen and loved unconditionally.  A background check is required.

Wyldlife and Younglife - Younglife is a national organization that intentionally bring Jesus to students, where they are at, in their context, with two goals. One, to earn the right to be heard, and two, to make sure every student hears that they have a right to know who Jesus is and his love for them. We have been involved with the Bridgman Club for a few years now. Contact us if you’d like to participate.

SWM Youth Collective - The SWM Youth Collective brings local youth groups together to collaborate on excellent student ministry events. As a group of youth and student pastors, our goal is to work collectively to offer a few great events each year in which all our youth groups can participate, to provide a great way to connect, and to live out the truth of Ephesians 4:5-6. Check out the SWMYC website for more.

Harbor Country Emergency Food Pantry - HCC regularly collects food to take the pantry, and special offerings are collected throughout the year to fund the pantry as well as connecting volunteers to fill their needs. The area served by the HCEFP is like a triangle starting from Bridgman south to the Indiana boundary, then east to Galien and finally west to Bridgman. Anyone living within that triangle is eligible to be served. The service includes financial help as well as food and clothing.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
